DAVID LAN PHAM, F.A.B.I. If Some Day
Vietnamese poem: Neu Mot Mai
If some day I’ll forget Please remind me. **** Point your finger at the sky where the clouds are flowing slowly, Sprinkle some water to imitate rain Remind me of the past old days On which we walked under the rain all day long. **** Give me a fresh rose, A very fragrant one, Dreamingly I'll wonder Whether the sweet scent comes from the old rose garden. **** Please show me the path serpenting around the city center. Order familiar foods for me. Take me to the street restaurant Where we used to drink and enjoy The fragrance of fresh lotus tea in a pretty teapot. **** Read to me your immense love poems You wrote to me Or to the ones you know Without dedicating to anyone. I will not ask you why your source of poetry was so abundant. In my old world full of Remembrance and forgetfulness, I'll only remember that I once had a very sweet and peaceful time Listening to the very exquisite poems of yours **** If some day I’ll be in bed. My eyes will be hollow; my mind wither. Don’t show me the pictures of our youth I won’t recognize myself and you. I’ll weep for, in the bottom of my perception, I know you and I have changed
