CONFLUENCE AND RESURGENCE A Vietnamese-American art exhibition
PRESS RELEASE
San Jose, April 15,
2019--“Confluence and Resurgence,” an exhibition of Vietnamese-American visual
art, will be held from April 15 to May 30, 2019 downtown San Jose, Dr. Martin
Luther King, Jr. Library. Participants are Vietnamese-American artists from
California including:Ann Phong, Đào Hải
Triều, Kai Hoàng, Artemisia Lâm Kim Phượng, Henry Trịnh, Nhơn Trần, Nguyễn Thanh
Trí, Andy Nguyễn and Jenny Đỗ.
Confluence commemorates
the fall of Saigon and South Vietnam on April 30, 1975, when the massive exodus
of the Vietnamese refugee diaspora began. Hope and search for freedom is the
confluence of the many streams of Vietnamese refugees, who eventually resettled
all over the world, in the lands of freedom. Resurgence celebrates the
resilience of the refugees’ spirit: they came, they survived, and they
contributed. This exhibition celebrates May, the Asian Heritage Month, and May
15, the Ao Dai Day, honoring the symbol of grace and strength of the
Vietnamese-American culture.
You are invited to come. The exhibition is free of charge. An official reception
to honor the participating artists and the events’ sponsors will be held on May
12, 2019. Join us and help us commemorate our loss and celebrate our survival.
And to enjoy some exceptional artworks!
